Here's the first one of my turning works. This is a fruit bowl of an unknown, exotic wood.
This bowl is made from birch. It has a branch that has beautiful detail. It doesn't leak by the way!
This was my first wood(birch) turning bowl with a separate lid. It was fun to make, as there are no restrictions to the different shapes and sizes of it. I used four layers of a dark shellac mixture to finish the outside.
I decided to leave the inside without any finishing. It's safer that way, incase someone intends to use it as a cerial bowl! I made it as a gift to keep Christmas candies with wrappers, as those are a very common present in Finland...
The legs are also birch. I turned the shapes on a rod, sawed it into three pieces, and then attached to the bottom by using dowel joints.
